About the Protocol Security Research Team

The Protocol Security Research team is a critical component of Ethereum’s larger security infrastructure. Funded by the Ethereum Foundation, this team is made up of around 10 highly skilled individuals with diverse expertise. Their mission is clear: to identify and mitigate risks to the Ethereum network.

Through meticulous code reviews, developing and utilizing advanced tooling, running real-world simulations, and working closely with client teams, this team works tirelessly to secure Ethereum's network and its critical components. They also manage Ethereum’s bug bounty program, continuously monitor the network for potential vulnerabilities, and collaborate with various other teams across the Ethereum ecosystem.

The Team’s Hands-On Approach

Fredrik and his team’s approach is hands-on and highly proactive. Their role includes reviewing code, monitoring for bugs, and ensuring any vulnerabilities or threats to the network are quickly addressed. With a strong focus on collaboration with other teams, their efforts extend beyond just research to include practical measures for preventing attacks and securing Ethereum’s protocol from harm.

In this episode, we dive deep into how Fredrik and his team manage this crucial role and the ongoing efforts to ensure Ethereum remains secure as it scales.
